Our Covid-19 Guidelines

The Learning Place Child Care Center has been open throughout this pandemic, minus two weeks in March; we used this time to clean/disinfect and reorganize our school. This enabled us to reorganize classrooms, equip ourselves with the necessary items needed to minimize the risk of exposure as well as put protocols in place to accomplish this same goal.

We continually remain up to date with the latest mandates and guidelines put forth by the DCF (Dept of Children & Families), our licensing agency; as well as the state and local Health Departments.

The following are the protocols in place to help reduce the risk of exposure in our center

  • All staff are required to: wear masks and be fully vaccinated or submit weekly Covid-19 test results.

  • Children over 2 years old will wear masks except when eating and sleeping.

  • Daily health screenings, including temperature check for staff and children prior to entering take place at the door, followed immediately by thorough hand washing before entering a classroom.

  • No visitors allowed in the building with the exception of: emergency personnel; DCF personnel for licensing or child protection purposes; and providers of therapeutic or treatment services including Early Intervention program staff or any staff required by an IEP- (Individual Education Plan) for a particular child. These visits will take place outside the classroom away from all other students.

  • Repeated, regular and thorough hand washing happens throughout the day. This isn't new to us, we have always had this protocol in place.
  • Regular disinfecting of toys and equipment; toys that are mouthed by our younger children are disinfected after each use.

  • Reduced class sizes, with each group remaining separate from each other. Avoiding combining of classes on the playground or play areas or at the end of the day.

  • Strict adherence to guidelines regarding illnesses. No child will remain at the school or allowed to return if they are showing signs of an illness. If exhibiting symptoms of Covid, children are sent home and must be fever free for 24 hours without medication; and must have a negative Covid test result.

  • Children’s belongings are kept separate. Soft, cloth toys have been removed from the classrooms. Only items that can be easily disinfected are used at this time.

  • If we become aware of a staff member or child who has Covid or was exposed to Covid, they will be excluded from work/school for the prescribed amount of time.

  • We ask that parents do not send their child to school sick and notify us of any symptoms that may occur while at home.
